The short answer
vabletNotes runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. Recording and the live transcript work on all of them. Writing the notes and drafting the follow-up automatically needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on, running iOS 26 or later.

Why the split
Transcription uses Apple’s speech framework, which runs on the device on every phone the app supports. Writing the notes uses Apple’s on-device language model, which Apple makes available to apps only on devices that support Apple Intelligence, and only from iOS 26. There is no cloud fallback in vabletNotes, deliberately: the alternative would be sending your meeting to a server, which is the one thing the app promises not to do.
Turning Apple Intelligence on
- Update to the current version of iOS or iPadOS in Settings → General → Software Update.
- Open Settings → Apple Intelligence and Siri and turn Apple Intelligence on. The first time, the device downloads the model; this can take a while and needs Wi‑Fi and battery.
- Set the device language and Siri language to one Apple Intelligence supports.
- Open vabletNotes and record a short test note. If it says the model is still downloading, give it a few minutes.
Storage and backups
Transcripts and notes are text, so a year of daily meetings takes far less space than a few photos. Everything is stored encrypted on the device and is included in your own iCloud or computer backup according to your iOS settings. There is no vabletNotes account, so a new phone gets your history from your backup, or from a backup file exported with Pro. We hold nothing and cannot restore anything for you.

Which iPhones and iPads support Apple Intelligence?
As of September 2026: iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, every iPhone 16 model including the 16e, and every later iPhone; iPad models with an M1 chip or later, and iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip. Apple maintains the definitive list, and it grows with each new model.
Apple Intelligence is on but the notes are not being written. Why?
Three usual reasons. Apple Intelligence may be off: check Settings → Apple Intelligence and Siri. The on-device model may still be downloading after a fresh setup or an iOS update; the app tells you so and asks you to try again shortly. Or the device is on iOS 18 and needs updating to iOS 26 or later, which is where Apple made the on-device model available to apps.
Is there a Mac app or a Vision Pro app?
There is no separate native Mac app and none is planned for now. Apple may make the iPad version available on Apple-silicon Macs and on Apple Vision devices through its own compatibility programmes; it is not tested there and the microphone and Siri behaviour may differ. iPhone and iPad are the supported devices.
Which languages work?
English and Spanish are included on the free plan, where the device supports them. Other languages Apple can transcribe and translate on the device are part of Pro, along with translating a transcript both ways. Apple Intelligence itself supports a specific set of languages and regions, so automatic notes in a given language depend on Apple’s list as well as ours.
